Understated Elegance with Belgian Shoes at Nicholas Haslam
As a young girl I always coveted the classic Chanel calfskin pumps, and 10 years after buying my first pair I”ve discovered a new brand, Belgian Shoes. I’m tall, so heels daily are not an option. I am a dedicated pump wearing, ankle showing girl, I’ve had cold ankles most of my adult life. Ballet pumps are my de rigueur. Nicholas Haslam on Ebury Street in Pimlico are now the only stockists of this discreet cult brand, Belgian Shoes, to which I am a convert.
My favourites are the Midinette Navy Vipera. A navy lizard with a calf skin sole. So chic, so comfortable, it’s like you’ve have a couple of 2.25’s attached to your feet. At around £295 the key is to wear them in for a few weeks (and if you live anywhere other than Florida), get some very thin leather soles added to make them last (the soles aren’t made for wet weather).
True supporters usually sweep in and pick up 5 or 6 pairs at one time. I think I may be back in the Spring for a pair of linen Belgians.
