The Clicquot Run >> From Place Vendôme to the Goodwood Revival >> Stage 1, Paris to Hôtel du Marc, Reims…
The email came through last month from Maison Veuve Clicquot in Paris. I had been invited to join the ‘Clicquot Run’ from Paris to the Goodwood Revival in West Sussex, UK. Just a handful of journalists were to begin our journey from the Place Vendôme on the Wednesday, down to Veuve Clicquot’s Hotel du Marc for a night, continuing our journey to Dieppe to catch the Ferry over to New Haven and on to our final destination.
You can imagine the scene. Just before rush hour we begin to clog up one corner of the Place Vendôme with some of the most extraordinary cars, this was just the beginning of a wonderful adventure. Our drivers, the owners of the cars, and friends of the house plus photographers, Lucille Pillet and Rémi Dargegen all began the first leg of the journey through the Parisian rush hour down to Reims in time for dinner. This story is just part one of a four part story of our adventure from Wednesday to Sunday….
With my cases packed, I headed out in a Jaguar Mark VII that we named Joan with my Pilot, Benjamin West, International Press at Public Relations Manager at Veuve Clicquot…

Meet Joan the Jaguar Mark VII
The best hotel in the world, Hôtel du Marc, Reims. I first stayed here back in February last year, just click on the link to read about the experience. Needless to say I knew exactly what to expect and I couldn’t have been more excited to see which room I’d be staying in, and to meet the fellow drivers and co-pilot’s for cocktails before dinner.
The Japanese Suite… *swoon*
Time for cocktails, and a glass or two of Veuve Clicquot Rosé
Gautier Rossignol, Jean-Philippe Braud and Camille Ripley
Have you ever seen a dining room like it. Heaven by way of Bruno Moinard…

Following tradition, we headed down the house cellar to pick out some special labels to try upstairs…
I played the game of lets find your birth year…
…and so we headed upstairs to taste what we’d discovered…
A beautiful night at Hôtel du Marc, always a night you’ll never forget. Tomorrow we were to continue on the second leg of our tour over to the UK…
