Brücke 49 was a life-long dream come true for its owners Ruth, a designer, and Thomas a marketing and business developer. For many years Ruth dreamt of a luxury Bed & Breakfast, and Thomas wanted to work outside and live close to the outside world.
They settled on Vals and were instantly taken by the village’s unique cultural mix of well-traveled people and local farmers, some of whom had never have been out of the valley. Refurbishing Brücke 49 finally made their dream come true.

Vals is situated in the largest canton of Switzerland, Graubünden, in the eastern part of the country with borders on Austria and Italy. There is a motorway all the way to Chur, just 75 km away; from there, easy mountain roads lead to Vals.
Travellers from Italy pass San Bernardino, Thusis and Chur. From Germany you pass Bregenz and drive directly to Chur. From France you travel via Zürich to Chur. It’s also very easy to travel by train to Vals even though you have to make a few stops and changes.
