The 2014 Round Up >>> My A-Z of 2014 in Pictures
It’s been a monumental year for LWSY. I’m not afraid to admit a wobbly start at the beginning of the year, but I think i’ve landed on my feet this December. After finding a new home to move into at the beginning of the year, and continuing to work half my week with the wonderful Nicky Dobree, I decided to ramp up my efforts with my site and see what a year of hard work could bring me. I told myself if I wanted to travel and visit some new locations then I must be positive and see what I could achieve. Along the way I was approached by Fox Linton Associates where I am now happily settled into my new home, and my site continues to grow (with thanks to your support) month by month.
I hope you continue to visit my site as I enjoy showing you new design locations, and places that interest me first and foremost. I’ve been invited to some extraordinary places over the year, my first adventure to the Caribbean, and weekends in Sweden, Marrakech, Denmark and Paris to name just a few.
Every year I do a round up in pictures of my favourite moments, but this year I thought I’d see how far I got if I tried an image for each letter of the alphabet. So here goes…
A: My weekend spent at Hotel Alexandra in Copenhagen over the summer.
B: My pre-work morning summer swims at The Berkeley Hotel.
C: Commissioning Artist Holly Frean to paint my portrait.
D: Design Festivals in Paris, London & NYC.
E: July, a weekend at El Fenn in Marrakech. Heaven.
F: Finally staying at Nicky Dobree’s Ferme de Moudon in Les Gets, France. Click on the link for the full story. Click on the link to see how to rent the place for yourself…
G: Perhaps the most eventful weekend of the year, Goodwood Revival last September.
H: A weekend at Ham Yard Hotel, London. Read about my stay in the link.
I: Interior of the Year > I nominate the newly re-opened Sketch on Conduit Street, London.
J: The most wonderful place I visited earlier this year, Jumby Bay, Antigua (post coming soon to LWSY)
K: For all the Knickerbocker Glory’s I’ve consumed this year (the best ones being at the Wolseley)
L: A Spring weekend at Le Bristol, Paris.
M: Dinner at The Musket Room, NYC in May.
N: Staying at the Nolitan Hotel, NYC.
O: For Oysters, an overly indulgent habit a certain Frenchman has got me into, below a quick pitstop at a Parisian antiques fair.
P: Paris, needs no explanation.
Q: A wonderful new discovery in London, Quattro Passi, Dover Street.
R: For the most wonderful new hotel in London, it has to be Rosewood London. Thank you Amara for my stay over my birthday weekend. Frosties and champagne for a birthday breakfast, what more could you ask for…
S: To my wonderful friend Sophie Hulme, for keeping me accessorised all year round.
T: Travel. There’s been quite a lot of it this year. Thank you Globe-Trotter for kitting me out with such stylish luggage. Below I was using the limited edition Liberty Globe-trotter. Follow their adventures by searching for #globetrottertravels.
U: For the mighty USA, my nominated best design hotel this year was the Viceroy. What a cool place. Stay there if you get the chance, the view is insane.
V: My first year as an Ambassador for Veuve Clicquot and many wonderful adventures with the Maison this year. Photographed here at Hôtel du Marc, Reims for a private dinner at Madame Clicquot’s former home.
W: For the only festival I made it to this year, Wilderness.
X: Adventures in the XK120.
Y: For Yees bracelets.
Z: (Help me out with the final one…!?)
I’m definitely not the same person I was when this year started…Happy New Year everyone!!
