Spa Afternoons at The Peninsula Hotel Paris
From the moment the sweeping doors of the Peninsula Paris are opened for you by the iconic bell boys, you enter a world of calm and serenity. Voices are lowered, and the staff seem to just float across the lobby escorting guests and visitors to their destinations with an effortless charm. I was heading straight for the spa. I’ve been to this Peninsula a few times. Last month I came for tea (read here) but today I was in need of an afternoon of zoning out.
In the heart of the city of light the spa here at The Peninsula Paris has been created for the constant traveller. The interior design incorporates traditional, eastern elements, harmonious tones, oak, granite and marble.
Arrive early and enjoy the relaxation room, the spa also has an indoor pool, two jacuzzis, two suites for couples, eight single treatment rooms and two fitness rooms.
I was booked in for a Biologique Recherche Biomagic Brightening & Toning facial (180€ for 60 minutes). I was promised a magical effect within minutes. Once tucked into the cosy heated treatment bed after my consultation, I could have fallen into a deep slumber if it wasn’t for the alternative ice cold treatment methodology of the facial. Instead of heat application, Biologique Recherche use only cold and ice cold pressures, masks and facial wraps. It was heaven. Cold face, warm body, like waking up on a winters morning with the window slightly open.
The foundation of the brands reputation is formed upon the combination of pure, concentrated, raw ingredients, and a clinical approach to their products and treatments. I must admit I tend to favour a massage over a facial, but I am being quietly turned. Facials offer the attention your precious skin often needs, even if you don’t feel it.
I left feeling utterly indulged. I must admit I also wasn’t ready to leave, so I found a quiet spot in the lobby and watched the world go by for another hour. I walked home in the evening light of a beautiful sunset, face glowing, mind happy.
