Rooftop Sunsets at Petit Ermitage West Hollywood > Los Angeles

It was another hotel app to the rescue the day we checked into Petit Ermitage. We were winging our trip in LA, day by day we would decide where the wind would take us with no real plans to feel we were in a hurry to get anywhere. We’d spent a night at the super cool The Line Hotel, and an over indulgent night at The Beverly Hills Hotel, so this night we wanted a super chilled spot, maybe with a pool as it was super hot mid August.

We arrived early evening, (you try tearing yourself away from the pool at The Beverly Hills Hotel) and hotel app to the rescue, we’d scored a Suite for the price of a standard room. Were were on the street level but looked out only onto gardens. Our Bohemian Junior Suite was 450 sq.ft of Venetian plaster walls, working fireplace, kitchenette and giant bathroom with bath and Le Labo products.

We dropped our bags and headed straight up to the rooftop where the pool sits beside the open air restaurant, with a sunken fireplace deck where they were showing an open air movie night the day we stayed.

It was then we started to notice something rather amusing to us. Everyone was French, even the staff, we’d stumbled into a secret we thought. This is where they all come.

The menu isn’t likely to disappoint at dinner. Globally inspired you’ll find Italian, Japanese and Egyptian influences. Or if clean Californian healthy cooking is your style, you’ll be perfectly content.

We were up at the crack of dawn, jet lag had us up and by the pool with our laptops at 6am. The saltwater pool is heated so perfect for a dip morning noon, or night. Every Wednesday the hotel provides a complimentary yoga class on the roof at 8.30 for hotel guests. LA is full of early risers so we were soon joined by fellow hotel guests ready to make the most of the day.

A couple of coffees in, and many emails caught up with we were both feeling content, and ready to discover West Hollywood. This is the perfect low-key hotel to base yourself at in LA. Rooms around this time of year (September/October) start around $310 ex taxes and breakfast.
