LWSY PARIS JULY 2016 – SO MUCH TO DO! SO MUCH TO SEE!
So here I am all settled into my new life in Paris, in our gorgeous top floor studio apartment in the heart of the Marais. Life here is shaping up nicely. I spent my day today running some errands and tying up some loose ends before we head off for the summer at the end of this week. I know what you’re thinking, “but you seem to be on holiday all the time?!”. This is true, but a few months break is just what I needed. Moving to Paris in the Spring was perfect timing, although completely unplanned, everything seems to panning out fine, (although I do miss my morning tea the way it tasted at home). I’ve had a few months to settle in (where has the time gone?!) and I’m beginning my work plans for Autumn. This week getting geared up for our month long summer holiday which starts soon. You know what we’re like, ever the ones to squeeze as much hotel hopping as possible. This summer we’re planning LA, San Francisco, Bali and Bangkok before ending up in London early September.
So I know what you’re thinking, how’s your French? No I still haven’t started my French lessons. Yes I know this is terrible and believe me I’m starting to get into trouble about that. September I keep saying to myself.
I think I’m doing ok at blending in. I spend most of my time trying to make sure I don’t look like a tourist when I’m out and about (usually with a map in 1 hand because i’m still getting the hang of my arrondissements). I have my local butcher and veg man, my local florist (I think) is no longer ripping me off. I tell myself I won’t be one of those people who moves here and doesn’t make an effort to try and speak despite my very little French. I left London with some thoughts and feelings that there is no need to share, but I am feeling quite restored, and to be finally living with be with my favourite person is the best feeling of all.
So, July. It’s been a wonderful month. Family and friends have visited already, and I’m hopping on and off the Metro without needing to look at the map all the time. I’ve been heavy on the exploring, a few snaps below to share some of my favourite days…
