LWSY A Confusing Cookbook >> Help give À LA CART a Kickstart >>
À LA CART is a photographic series of meals which have been prepared using discarded shopping lists found in supermarkets, the brainchild of my clever friend Tom Lakeman.
Tom has been collecting discarded shopping lists from supermarket trolleys for eight years. He’s finally put them to use. Tom decided that these lists weren’t just notes, but recipes, and so his crazy idea began. Not so crazy now you see this book.
With just one rule when preparing the meals, ALL ingredients had to be used. Ingredients that had been crossed out were not allowed.
The 9 Volt Burger
Maki (Toilet) Rolls
Japanese Cotton Noodles
Cat Food Cupcake
Baked Bird Feeder
Mice Poison Ragu
& my personal favourite, Silk Cut Salad
The book is in its last stages of design with Milan based design studio itsallgood, and contains an essay from Sam Bompas of Bompass & Parr. Words from Nick Savage annotate the book.
Tom has created a Kickstarter campaign to reach the target amount needed for the book to go to print. Please click on this link and watch his hilarious pledge campaign video, and back this brilliant project.
