Would I like to be whisked away from London for the day? Mini bottles of Pommery Pop, ponies & men swanning around in La Martina’s new collection? Yes please. I was recently invited down to Guards Polo Club where the Argentinian label, La Martina were previewing their Spring Summer Collection, a catwalk show followed by an afternoon of Polo. A quick 40 minute drive out into the English countryside, past Cowarth Park, whizzing to the ground in style with thanks to Uber Cars.
La Martina are the market leaders in technical polo kit, also running an ‘off the field’ line of mens and womenswear. The Bystander crew were on the side lines to record the day, and once we met with our friends at L&H Communications we were whisked to our front row seats just in time to catch the first looks. Think refined elegance, crisp white shirts and chinos for the boys, linen skirts and dresses for the girls, all complete with the La Martina leather accessories, belts, boots & weekend bags. Throw in some elbow & knee pads, pro evo helmets and you’re good to go….
Girls, if you might not know the brand, you’ll most certainly know which style of Polo boot you most covet, those classic thick leather boots with the industrial zippers? Chances are the designers at Russell & Bromley, Zanotti & Church’s have followed La Martina’s traditional designs. You’ll certainly be noted by the players for clearly having the best taste, they’re the boot version of a 2.55 bag.
Just before the match in my favourite new Sophie Hulme trench coat…
It’s not just the men getting hot & steamy mid match. We go divot stamping, they go for a quick spritz…
The London Chatter’s Kelly Eastwood
Afternoon tea was served in the club house during the Archie David Match, where we all had the opportunity to meet La Martina’s European CEO, Enrico Rosello, and catch up with some friends. Also enjoying the day with us was Henry Conway, Natalie Coyle, Zafar Rushdie, Annabel Simpson (who’s pup may have had more cucumber sandwiches than us) and fellow blogger The London Chatter’s Kelly Eastwood. With the click of a button at the end of the match, our Uber driver was on hand to whizz us back up to London. What a treat, now, let’s start thinking about saving for some of those classic boots…
